MIRA thanks you
MIRA thanks you so much for all your support and calls to state legislators to co-sponsor the Safe Communities Act! Thanks to all our efforts, a record-breaking 94 state Senators and Representatives have co-sponsored the bill (see list below)!
While the deadline for House sponsorship has passed, it is not too late to keep the pressure on state leaders. How you can help:
- Call or write Governor Baker to thank him for his public stance and letter to the Department of Homeland Securityopposing the executive order “travel ban” and ask for his continued leadership by supporting the Safe Communities Act.
- If your Senator and/or Representative has already co-sponsored, please call and thank them, and tell them you hope they will be a strong advocate for the bill with their colleagues.
- If your Senator and/or Representative is NOT on the list below, please contact them – consider visiting them in their district office (bring friends!) and ask them to publicly support the bill, including by co-sponsoring the Senate version (SD.1596).
The Safe Communities Act is Massachusetts’ comprehensive answer to the federal government’s aggressive deportation agenda. Let’s show the nation that Massachusetts stands with our immigrant families!
Thank you – we cannot do this important work without you!
